One of the core values we hold at Carey is that Theological Education belongs to the whole people of God where they work, live, play and gather that is in the local church. At Carey, we hold the conviction that God has spoken and continues to speak in and through Scripture and the working of Holy Spirit. Living under the Lordship of Jesus Christ we describe ourselves as moderate evangelicals within the orthodox Christian tradition.
We believe the best place for the integration of theological education and the lived application is within the local church, and the college is committed to providing quality, accessible degree programs for clergy and laity as well as workshops and seminars for the church. Intensive and on-line classes are all part of the flexibility as supportive of life-long learning.
God calls and sends us to immerse ourselves in the Lord’s own mission in the world. So we value practical experience, in-service learning, also character building, theological reflection, Scripture, proclamation, justice, integral mission, evangelism, service and equipping ministries. Spiritual formation is integral to all our programs whether at the level of the Master’s degrees, the Doctor of Ministry or for the lay person who wants to grow in faith. Carey faculty members share a wealth of experience in local church ministry, international mission engagement, cross-cultural applications, counseling, chaplaincy, and Christian teacher education.
Carey Theological College is an accredited member of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada, as well as being an Affiliate College of the University of British Columbia. We participate actively in UBC affairs, and enjoy a working relationship with Regent College. We are a ministry of the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada and work closely with our international mission board, Canadian Baptist Ministries.
Carey has a residential facility for short and long term stays and is available for students doing intensive courses on campus. The Carey Institute serves those wishing to grow in leadership skills and makes learning opportunities available and accessible through non-traditional means.
