- THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE
It is with a deep sense of gratitude that we announce Dr. Jonathan Wilson, Pioneer McDonald Professor of Theology, will conclude his service at CAREY on December 31, 2017. He has served at CAREY since 2006.
CAREY celebrates Jonathan’s faithful service as a teacher, faculty leader, community builder, and friend. In announcing his departure, Jonathan says, “I leave Carey with a sense that my work here is complete. I am grateful to God for the opportunity to serve Christ and the people of God during my years at Carey.”
As a teacher, Jonathan has fulfilled his calling in the classroom, in books and articles, and in his speaking engagements in Canada and around the world. He has taught extensively at CAREY and across western Canada. He has also taught the basic course in theological reflection to the Bolivian and Kenyan Doctor or Ministry cohorts and has supervised eight Doctor of Ministry projects. During his years at Carey he has published three books, numerous articles, and completed the first half of a commentary on the “Book of the Twelve”.
As a faculty leader, Jonathan has challenged us to think and act theologically—to discern and participate in God’s mission in the world. He played a significant role in the design, implementation, and revision of the Master of Divinity degree and led the development and design of the Master of Arts in Christian Ministry.
As a community builder and friend, Jonathan has been a listener and counselor within the CAREY community, to several congregations and to Christian leaders in Canada, the US, and around the world.
As he concludes his time at CAREY, he looks forward to living out his vision of “servant-at-large for the kingdom of God” in new ways alongside his wife, Soohwan Park.
If you are a student or colleague of Jonathan, please send photos and a note of appreciation to email@example.com. Your material will be added to a memory book that will be given to him upon his retirement. Join us in blessing Jonathan as he steps into the next chapter of his journey of life and service .
Lastly, please pray for CAREY as we prepare to bid farewell to Jonathan in 2017 and continue in our calling to “expect great things from God and attempt great things for God.”
