About the “Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius
The “Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius” are a very profound engagement and re-dedication of our lives to the work of Christ in us, and in the world.
In the Spiritual Exercises, five sessions are given in which a progressive appreciation of our relationship and commitment to God’s purposes is encouraged. This retreat will begin each day with a time of contemplative prayer. A teaching time related to the prayer exercises for that day will then follow. In the afternoons you will be on your own to practice these prayers. There will also be opportunities for personal spiritual direction each day related to the exercises. And each evening we will come together again for debriefing and a compline liturgy.Date: Monday-Saturday August 18-23 2014 Time: Monday evening anytime after dinner- Saturday at 4:00 Cost: $375 (includes catered meals from Tuesday breakfast-Saturday lunch) Accommodation: rooms may be booked for an additional fee via Reception at 604.224.4308 for up to $84/room with a %10 discount available if booked by June 19. Churches and communities are experiencing an unprecedented ministry challenge and opportunity over the next 25-40 years in responding to an aging population. There needs to be a more cooperative and informed approach to discerning, planning and resourcing local church ministries to serve the varied needs of older adults and their families. This symposium aims to bring together participants for consultation and mutual encouragement through plenary input sessions, guided discussion, resourcing workshops and other network building activities. The topics and issues addressed will be helpful for either those currently involved or those interested in developing new and connecting ministries with older adults. Pastors, church leaders, health/social care professionals and anyone interested in learning about and making a contribution to this emerging missional challenge and opportunity are encouraged to attend.
* We are encouraging you and others from your church to plan to join us for a time of networking, consultation and vision formation, as we respond to this emerging ministry/mission challenge and opportunity. Watch here for more information over the coming weeks.
