Many of today’s pressing issues relate to biblical teaching about God’s creation: droughts, famines, being human, sexuality, gene therapy, environmental debates, oppression and injustice rooted in “created differences” such as gender and race, and so much more. But the church has an undernourished doctrine of creation to help us bear witness to the gospel of God’s redemption of the world. Come to re-discover the resources in the Bible and our heritage for reclaiming Christian witness to the gospel in our times.During the seminar we will consider

  • the real conflict between “creation” and our world.
  • the relational nature of creation.
  • the goal of creation.
  • our place in the story of New Creation.
  • how to live now with wisdom, hope, love, and joy.

About The Presenter:

null I teach theology at Carey. My passion is for us to grow in our love of learning and desire for God. My understanding of theology calls me to meddle in all aspects of seminary education: biblical studies, church history, the work of ministry and mission, ethics, doctrine, pastoral and congregational formation. Of course, this also means that I am in some ways accountable to all of these. I enjoy meddling in my colleagues’ work and being held accountable by them. I delight in the enthusiasm, openness, breadth and depth of our students. All of this is nourished by a discipline of prayer, time alone in quiet, on walks, and listening to jazz; I also enjoy home-cooked meals and long conversations with good friends.
